Draft, not in effect yet. TwoKey is still invite only. This page shows what will apply once TwoKey opens to the public, and may change before then.
These terms are the agreement between you and Bryce Schuebert (“TwoKey”, “we”), which runs the TwoKey app at twokeyapp.com and its mobile apps. By creating an account or using TwoKey, you agree to them, to the TwoKey Promise (which is part of these terms) and to how the privacy policy says we handle your data. Section 17 asks you to settle disputes through individual arbitration instead of in court, and explains how to opt out.
1. Who can use TwoKey
You must be at least 18 and live in the United States.
Each person uses their own account. Don't share sign-ins.
You're responsible for keeping the accounts you sign in with (Apple, Google, Microsoft or your email) and your devices secure, and for what happens under your account. Tell us right away at support@twokeyapp.com if you think someone else got in.
2. Households and roles
A household is a home and the people who share it in TwoKey. The person who creates it is its owner and holds its plan. The owner decides who joins and what each person can see and change (for example partner or family member), and who gets a link to one task or project (for example a cleaner or vendor).
Partners have an equal say. The owner can't give a partner less access, a different role, or remove them on the spot: the partner can agree right away, and otherwise the change happens after 7 days' notice unless the owner cancels it. Anyone can leave a household, and download their data, at any time.
The owner is responsible for who they invite and for what they share with them, including through guest links and outside share links. Don't put door codes, alarm codes or wifi passwords anywhere a guest or outside link can show them.
Each person who connects a bank decides how much of it the household sees. Only connect accounts you're allowed to access.
If members disagree about a shared household, the owner's settings decide, within the partner notice above. We don't referee household disputes.
3. Plans and payment
Free covers one home, including guest links. Paid plans (Connected, and Keys for people with more than one home) are described on the pricing page with their current prices, limits and how prices change.
Paid plans are bought on the web and billed through Stripe in advance, monthly or yearly. They renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime in Settings, and your plan keeps working until the end of the period you paid for.
Connected starts with a 7 day free trial the first time your home tries it. Cancel before the trial ends and you aren't charged. Otherwise the first payment is taken when it ends.
You can switch plans anytime. Moving up starts right away and you pay only the difference for the rest of your current period. Moving down takes effect right away too, and the unused part of what you paid comes off your next bill.
Except where these terms or the law say otherwise, payments are not refunded. Prices don't include taxes, which we add where required.
We change paid prices at most once a year, with at least 60 days' notice before the new price applies to you.
4. Changes to TwoKey, including removing features
TwoKey is a small service that relies on outside companies for some features, like bank connections (Plaid), travel times and maps, job listings and Pinterest. Their prices, rules and availability can change without our say. So:
We may add, change, limit, pause or remove any feature, plan or integration at any time, including to control costs, to follow a provider's rules, for security, or because a provider stops offering what we use.
We'll give reasonable notice of changes that take something away from you, usually at least 30 days, unless a provider, the law or a security problem gives us less time. When that happens, we'll tell you as soon as we can.
If we remove a feature that is part of a paid plan you've already paid for, and don't replace it with something similar, we'll refund the unused part of that period, prorated, or let you cancel and refund it. That refund is your only remedy for the removal.
The TwoKey Promise says which parts of Free stay free. Features that rely on an outside service can get limits, change or be removed on any plan, Free included.
5. Fair use and limits
Plans include limits, such as the number of bank logins per home, travel-time lookups per day, TwoKey's AI uses per month and photo storage. Current limits are shown in the app.
When use gets heavy, TwoKey may slow down, queue or pause features that cost us money per use, or serve saved results instead of fresh ones, starting with Free accounts.
If an account uses far more than a typical household, we may limit it, ask it to move to a paid plan, or suspend it after telling you why.
6. Outside services
Bank connections are provided by Plaid. By connecting a bank, you allow Plaid to collect your data under the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
Pinterest, job boards, map data and AI assistants you connect each have their own terms. We aren't responsible for them or for data they get wrong, show late or stop providing.
7. TwoKey is a tool, not advice
TwoKey doesn't move money, pay bills or hold funds. Numbers like “what to pay”, the paycheck split, budgets and projections are estimates from the data it has, which can be late, missing or wrong. Check with your bank or card company before you rely on them. You're responsible for paying your own bills on time.
TwoKey isn't financial, tax, legal, real estate or career advice, and isn't a substitute for a licensed professional. For electrical, gas, structural or other risky home work, hire a qualified professional.
Commute times, rent estimates, place scores, job listings, example photos and anything an AI assistant writes can be inaccurate or out of date.
8. Your content
You own what you add to TwoKey. You give us permission to store, copy, process and show it only as needed to run TwoKey for you and the people you share it with, and to make backups.
We don't sell your content or use it for ads. Some features use AI to help you, but your content never trains an AI model, ours or the AI company we use.
Only upload things you have the right to use, like your own photos.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we can use them freely without owing you anything. Your content and data stay yours.
9. Rules for using TwoKey
Don't:
break the law, or use TwoKey to harass, defraud or harm anyone;
try to see or change another household's data, or get around permissions, app lock, limits or plans;
probe, scan or load-test TwoKey, scrape it, or reach it through automated tools other than the assistant API with your own key;
upload malware, or reverse engineer TwoKey except where the law allows it;
resell TwoKey, or use it to build a competing service.
TwoKey Open Listings are the exception: anyone may read, download and reuse them through the open data page and its API, even to build something that competes with TwoKey, under the terms in Section 10. So are the area numbers for each ZIP code (from FHFA and the Census, public domain, CC0). TwoKey neighbor numbers on area pages are for reading there; don't try to work out any one home's numbers from them.
Found a security problem? Email support@twokeyapp.com with the details and give us a reasonable time to fix it before telling anyone else. If you act in good faith, only use your own account, and don't access, keep or share other people's data, we won't pursue legal action against you for that research.
10. Assistants, share links and listings
If you give an AI assistant a key, you're responsible for what it does with that key, the same as if you did it. You can revoke the key anytime in Settings › Assistants. Assistants can never move money or contact anyone through TwoKey.
Anyone with a share link or guest link can see what it shows until it expires or you turn it off. Share only with people you trust.
Listing a home
List only a home you own or have the right to rent out. TwoKey checks before a listing goes live and takes it down if the check turns out wrong.
Follow fair housing law: a listing can't say who's welcome by race, color, religion, sex, disability, family status or national origin, and you can't treat people who ask differently for those reasons.
Be honest about the home. Photos must be of this home and yours to use.
TwoKey is a place to post a listing and get questions. It isn't a real estate broker or agent: it doesn't give advice, handle offers, money or contracts, take a commission, or get paid for sending you to a lender or title company. What you agree with a buyer or renter is between you.
The open data. When you set a listing to Everyone, you let TwoKey publish its details (not your name, contact or photos) as open data under the Open Database License 1.0. Copies made while it was public may stay out there after you take it down. A would-sell price never shows the street.
Using the open data: follow the ODbL. Say it came from “TwoKey Open Listings” with a link, and share changed copies of the data under the same license. Don't use it to contact owners outside TwoKey or to discriminate.
11. Ending your account
You can export your data and delete your account at any time, from inside the app.
We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts other people or TwoKey at risk, goes unpaid, or that the law requires us to close. Unless the problem is serious or the law prevents it, we'll tell you first and give you at least 30 days to export your data.
If TwoKey itself shuts down, the TwoKey Promise says what happens.
Sections 7, 8 (feedback), 9 and 12 to 18 keep applying after your account ends.
12. TwoKey is provided as is
To the fullest extent the law allows, TwoKey is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise TwoKey will always be available, error free or secure, or that data from banks or other providers will be complete or correct. Some states don't allow some of these exclusions, so they may not all apply to you.
13. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, TwoKey and the people who run it aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost money, profits, data, late fees, interest or missed opportunities, even if we were told they were possible.
Our total liability for all claims about TwoKey is limited to what you paid TwoKey in the 12 months before the claim. If you've only used Free, that amount is zero.
These limits apply whatever the legal theory, and don't limit liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited.
14. If someone makes a claim because of you
If someone makes a claim against TwoKey because of your content, your misuse of TwoKey, how you shared it, or your breaking of these terms or the law, you'll cover the reasonable costs, including lawyers' fees, to the extent the law allows. We'll tell you about the claim and let you help respond.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For a change that matters, we'll tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before it applies. If you don't agree, stop using TwoKey and delete your account before then; if you're on a paid plan, we'll refund the unused part of it. Using TwoKey after the change applies means you accept it. Smaller fixes, like wording or contact details, apply when posted.
16. Which law applies
Georgia law governs these terms, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, along with the Federal Arbitration Act for Section 17. Any claim that isn't arbitrated goes to the state or federal courts in Fulton County, Georgia, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it there.
17. Settling disputes
Talk to us first. Before filing a claim, email support@twokeyapp.com with what happened and what you want. We'll both try in good faith to settle it within 60 days.
Individual arbitration. If we can't, the dispute will be settled by binding individual arbitration run by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, by video or in the county where you live. Either of us can instead take an eligible claim to small claims court.
No class actions. Claims can only be brought individually, not as part of a class, group or representative action, and the arbitrator can't combine claims from different people.
You can opt out. Email support@twokeyapp.com within 30 days of first accepting these terms saying you opt out of arbitration, and this section won't apply to you.
If the class action waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim goes to court, not arbitration.
18. The rest
These terms, the TwoKey Promise and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about TwoKey.
We may transfer this agreement to a company that takes over running TwoKey, such as one we form to run it. You can't transfer it without our OK.
If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a part isn't a waiver of it.
We're not responsible for delays or failures caused by things outside our reasonable control, like an outage at a provider, a natural disaster or a change in the law.
